Barney
Barney is responsible for so much of what has been achieved at Animal Behaviour and Training. He is the founder dog and has been an excellent companion and teacher. Due to his placid nature and obedience Barney has done behavioural work for many years, even appearing on television in 2001.
In March 2008 he was runner up in the Seven Seas top dog of the year competition and has competed at local shows in his younger years, always being placed well.
Sadly Barney died at home during the early morning of 5th June 2010.
He was a fantastic friend, loyal companion and a credit to his breed. He will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace old friend and thank you for all you taught me.
Barney: 20/5/1997 – 5/6/2010

| Sophie:
Sophie is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. We rescued Sophie as a 1 year old from a farm, where she had been left in a kennel, under weight, and terrified of people and other animals.
Unfortunatley Sophie had been passed around many different homes in her short life and as a result of that, and being the victim of physical abuse she was very psychologically damaged when she arrived.
It took a lot of patience and consistent calm handling but Sophie went from strength to strength as each month past. She is now unrecognisable as the dog we rescued, a confident and happy dog, who loves people and lives happily within our pack.
When we took Sophie on it was not known whether she would ever make a therapy dog, but she is extremely loyal and this makes her reliable when out working. She knows her job and loves to be out and about.
She has been to many companion dog shows and gets placed every time out, judges cannot believe she could have once been to nervous to enter a ring, nevermind handle such a busy environment with people fussing and stroking her!
Sophie's progress has been the result of patience and dedication and she is living proof that even the worst cases can come round.

Maggie:
Maggie is a Border Terrier. She comes out to help when we need a small dog.
She helps out on group walks and has helped rehabilitate many aggressive dogs.
Maggie is relaxed and comfortable around both large and small dogs – her best friends are all 10 times as big as her!

| Prince
Prince is thought to be a Rottweiler X Husky. Like Sophie he has had a very traumatised past. He was badly neglected by his owners and had to be removed by the RSPCA. Kennel life was to stressful for Prince due to the high volumes of people. He was constantly injuring himself through trying to escape out of fear. He could not be handled by people and was terrified of any interaction.
Once Prince came to stay with us it took weeks to get initial interactions without him dropping to the floor in fear, trying to run away or fling himself over fences. He now fully trusts us and continues to go from strength to strength each day. One of his favourite places is upside down on the bed having his tummy tickled and nudging you if you stop! He is excellent for helping with dogs who have poor social skills.
Sophie has helped Prince to gain trust and confidence in people and two years ago she thought people where terrible!
Prince has now grown in confidence enough to be able to enter dog shows, and start working trials training. He also helps out at the group training classes each week.
Chey
Chey is a Belgian X German Shepherd. She came to us as she was too active and high energy for her previous home and consequently was upsetting the other dogs in the family. Chey has done a lot of training since she came to us and can now channel her energy into work and is much more relaxed.
